Mozart Audio and Visual Collection
Around 40,000 audio titles and 4,000 video productions are available to the interested Mozart lover in the sound and film collection. A true treasure trove that is constantly growing.
Since 1996, the Mozart Residence at Makartplatz, with the Mozart Audio and Film Collection, has been home to the largest specialized archive for audio and film documents on the life and work of the Salzburg composer. The collection includes interpretations of works, rehearsal recordings, documentaries, portraits, radio plays, and children's films.
The oldest of the approximately 40,000 audio titles dates back to 1889, and some of the musical works are available in more than 300 different interpretations. Among the 4,000 video productions are film documentaries, feature and television films about Mozart, as well as concert and opera recordings. Additionally, about 11,000 Mozart recordings can be accessed in the online database.
