On the Westbahn to Salzburg
With the private railway company WESTbahn, train travelers can reach Salzburg from Vienna, Munich, Stuttgart, Bregenz, Saalfelden, and Villach multiple times a day – and this especially at a low cost.
Every 30 minutes, the WESTbahn runs from Vienna (Westbahnhof or Hütteldorf) to Salzburg, stopping at the train stations of St. Pölten, Amstetten, Linz, Wels, Attnang-Puchheim, and Vöcklabruck. Among the provider's strengths are affordable tickets and ongoing offers, especially the travel time of only 2 hours 30 minutes.
Trains run five times a day from Vienna via Salzburg to Munich Hbf - with a stop at Ostbahnhof Munich and at all previously usual stations in Austria.
Travel time from Munich Central Station to Salzburg: approx. 1 hour 47 minutes
To make the journey particularly pleasant, the WESTbahn focuses on high service quality and personal care for guests by the train staff. Free Wi-Fi, sufficient power outlets, accessibility through low-floor trains, changing tables, ergonomic leather seating, and the four WESTcafés offering hot and cold beverages as well as small snacks make the WESTbahn the ideal choice for business travelers as well as families.
In addition to its permanent offerings, the WESTbahn also provides some seasonal discounts and especially affordable tickets for students and retirees.
