Handicapped Parking
There are numerous designated handicapped parking spaces throughout the city of Salzburg.
For people with disabilities, there are special parking permits. These must be displayed clearly behind the windshield when in use! Holders of a permit (or drivers of vehicles transporting a permanently severely disabled person) are allowed to park:
- in the area of the traffic sign "No Parking"
- in short-term parking zones without time restrictions
- in pedestrian zones during the time when loading activities are generally allowed
- in disabled parking spaces (unless they are reserved for a specific vehicle with an additional sign)
as well as
- when picking up or dropping off and when loading or unloading the necessary aids for the disabled person (e.g. wheelchair) - provided that no other road users are hindered from passing or leaving - to hold in the second lane at locations where otherwise "No Stopping and Parking" applies.
Note: In Salzburg, the parking fee obligation is waived in short-term parking zones!
You can find the locations of the disabled parking spaces here.
Paid disabled parking spaces can also be found in some central parking garages: Mönchsberg Parking Garage (Old Town Garage A+B), Linzer Gasse Parking Garage, Paracelsusbad Parking Garage, Barmherzige Brüder Parking Garage, Auersperg Parking Garage, Imbergstraße Parking Garage, Unipark Nonntal Parking Garage.
Note regarding the disabled parking spaces in the area behind the barriers (e.g. Mozartplatz, Festival Hall): With the Euro-Key, the barriers can be unlocked, allowing access to the (barrier-protected) disabled parking spaces in the Old Town. Guests without a Euro-Key are asked to use the disabled parking spaces outside the barrier-protected area.
