EBORAN Galerie Salzburg
The EBORAN Gallery in the Lehen district has been considered a platform for the promotion of contemporary and subcultural art for more than 40 years.
Low-threshold encounters and art for a wide audience – this is what the EBORAN Gallery focuses on. With its openings featuring both national and international artists and its emphasis on subculture and young, fresh perspectives, the gallery significantly contributes to the cultural discourse.
The EBORAN Gallery started in 1984 in the waiting room of a dentist's office as a so-called "no-budget gallery." In the following years, a laundromat, a tire workshop, a Turkish club, and a former police station served as exhibition spaces. Since 2012, the gallery, which has been supported by the city, state, and federal government since 1992, has been located in a spacious, industrial-style studio in Lehen. Yet the EBORAN remains true to its principle of making art accessible to a wide audience to this day.
