Every tourist arriving in Salzburg is overwhelmed by the magnificence of its streets, buildings, squares, churches, monuments and attractions. But only a few visitors to Salzburg know that there is a story behind every corner, every passageway and nearly every portal. That is why a guided tour with one of the over one hundred licensed tourist guides will be a valuable enrichment to your stay in Salzburg.

A sound training and the lively exchange of information among tourist guides are a great benefit for tourists: you will hear anecdotes and stories that you've certainly never heard before. Tours are available in a variety of topics and length and are conducted in over twenty languages, also in sign language.

The standard tours include a walking tour to Mozart's Birthplace and Hohensalzburg Fortress. A number of special tours offer insight into a variety of different fields: "Literary Salzburg" will take you to the places where famous writers and poets such as Stefan Zweig, Georg Trakl or Peter Handke lived. "In Sync" will introduce you to Herbert von Karajan's domain, the "Machiolations and Portcullis" tour will take you on a walk along the ancient walls of the city while you learn about Salzburg's defense strategies.

Other tours include "A Woman's Salzburg," "Riddle Rally," "Festival Frills," "Over the Rooftops of Salzburg", "Under a Baroque Sky," "Hidden Treasures," "The City's Water and Fountains" and "Fairy Tales and Legends."
