hiking trails - Arnoweg

The Arnoweg brings together everything that makes Salzburg what it is: Magical nature combined with a rich cultural and historical heritage. The starting point for this 1200km long walk is Hohensalzburg Fortress.

The history of this hiking path

The Arnoweg is named after the first archbishop of Salzburg, Arno, and leads to all regions of Salzburg province. It was created to mark the anniversary “1200 Years of the Salzburg Archbishopric”. Appropriately, Hohensalzburg Fortress serves as the starting point and finish of this hiking tour.

The Arnoweg in Salzburg City

The hiking tour is divided into eight different stages. In the city itself, it takes you along the Almkanal in the direction of Glanegg and continues up the Untersberg, which is climbed via the Doppler Steig, a hiking trail leading to the Zeppezauer-Haus.
