Discover Salzburg's uniqueness - music and art as a universal language. This engaging city tour (75 min) perfectly prepares you for your visit to Salzburg and for the upcoming concert at Salzburg Cathedral. (Start 12.03 - Music at noon)
This event takes place as a public tour at specific times in German. For groups (up to 25 people), this event can also be booked on other days in English/Italian.
Following the city tour, you have the opportunity to participate in a guided tour of the interior of the Cathedral, led by your guide, an art historian (preservation contribution). You will experience the Salzburg Cathedral in its unique synthesis of theological - architectural - musical expression - a typical Salzburg feature - which will be explained to you against the backdrop of contemporary history.
With the preservation fee (€ 5), you support the Salzburg Cathedral. You can choose from three options for this tour:
- engaging city tour as a well-informed introduction to Salzburg's history and culture
- Supplementary tour – (interior visit of the Cathedral before the concert)
- Overall package (Cathedral tour and the concert as a crowning conclusion) to the city tour as a unique overall experience
On this tour, you gain insight into the humanistic-Christian rhetoric (language) inherent in Salzburg's early Baroque architecture and imagery. You will understand the unique progressive worldview of a church that was in the process of becoming more open to the world and wanting to initiate a path to peace. You will learn about the globally unique city ensemble (UNESCO World Heritage) in its one-of-a-kind mission. Alongside musical and stage works, the heart of the old town was a stage for a comprehensive community that aims to invoke and solidify the togetherness of people.
Before understanding the rich centuries-old music and stage practice in Salzburg, the work of W. A. Mozart becomes truly comprehensible.
