Close to the beautiful Klessheim Castle on the outskirts of Salzburg, the Red Bull Arena is Austria's largest football stadium and seats 30,188 fans.

The history of the stadium

In 2001, the construction of the Red Bull Arena began, and it was opened – then still for around 18,000 spectators – in 2003. Just two years later, the arena was remodeled for the UEFA European Championship in Austria and Switzerland, increasing the spectator capacity to 30,188.

Arrival

The stadium in Salzburg has 2,000 parking spaces – more than any other stadium in Austria – as well as its own highway connection (exit ‘Klessheim’), bus connection, and a suburban train station. Bus lines 1 and 28 run from “Salzburg Hauptbahnhof” to the stop “Kleßheimer Allee”, and suburban train line 3 to the stop “Taxham Europark”. Stadium tickets also serve as free bus and train tickets and are valid on match days as network tickets six hours before the match starts until the end of service. This offer applies to the entire network in the state of Salzburg, including Freilassing station (line S3) and for corridor traffic over the Kleine Deutsche Eck (line 260).
