Daily Market Grünmarkt

The colorful hustle and bustle of the marketplace has characterized the Salzburg Grünmarkt for more than 150 years. Whether food products, spirits, flowers or souvenir wooden toys – here, you can pick up practically whatever you might wish for.

Lived market tradition since 1857

Since the 19th century, the Grünmarkt has taken place in the shadow of the Kollegienkirche at the Universitätsplatz. Daily, except on Sundays and public holidays, one can browse here: From bread and baked goods to meat and fish products, as well as fruits and vegetables, everything is available.

Unique flair

Especially on Saturdays, when the market extends to Wiener-Philharmoniker-Gasse up to Max-Reinhardt-Platz, the Grünmarkt is surrounded by a very special aura. At 6 o'clock in the morning, when the market stalls open and the city slowly awakens, the Grünmarkt is particularly popular. Visitors and locals appreciate the market for its cozy atmosphere. Especially on weekends, the square is a popular meeting point for young and old.

  • Specialties: Agricultural products, bread, pastries, meat and processed products, fruits, vegetables, spirits
