For many years, the annually changing special exhibitions at the Monatsschlössl folklore museum in Hellbrunn have entered into dialogue with the existing folklore collection, each time highlighting new aspects from an artistic, historical and socially relevant perspective.

As early as the first half of the 20th century, Salzburg's landscape, music, and traditional costumes were used for tourism marketing. Films like "The Sound of Music" shape the image of the region worldwide. The exhibition "Edelweiß forever" at the Monatsschlössl illuminates these topics from three perspectives: in the film "The Sound of Music," through the von Trapp family, and in the development of Salzburg in the 1950s/60s. It complements the Sound of Music Salzburg opening in Hellbrunn in 2026.
