Exhibition: Wolfgang Needs Space! The Beginnings of the Mozart Cult in Salzburg

On the occasion of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's 270th birthday, the exhibition illuminates the early forms of the Mozart cult. As the historical glory of Salzburg faded, the significance of the future cultural capital emerged from the first music festivals around the Mozart monument. The focus of the presentation is on Mozartplatz with defining events between 1824 and 1956.

Displayed are carefully selected objects from the collections of the Mozarteum Foundation, offering an exciting insight into the tumultuous history of the place and the increasing significance of Mozart for his hometown. The exhibition deliberately bridges to the Salzburg Heimatwerk, which is also based there, and invites visitors to rediscover the origins and lasting impact of Mozart's legacy in Salzburg.

It is free to visit during the opening hours of the Salzburg Heimatwerk.
