Salzburger Heimatwerk
In the New Residence, which also houses the Salzburg Museum, the Salzburg Home Workshop has been located since 1946. The highest priority of this traditional business is the preservation and promotion of regional folk culture.
In the historical vault of the New Residence, the Salzburg Heimatwerk has been keeping its doors open since 1946. As a cultural organizer and trading company, the Heimatwerk has the primary goal of promoting the folk culture of this region. This particularly applies to the preservation, care, and further development of traditions related to regional costumes, customs, and craftsmanship.
In the in-house tailoring workshop, dirndls and traditional costumes are created with masterful craftsmanship, reflecting both tradition and contemporary spirit. Noble handprints, fine hand-weaving, silk, farmer's linen, and exquisite designer goods can be purchased at the Heimatwerk, as well as leather clothing.
The changing special exhibitions in the historical vaulted cellars are always worth a visit. The Salzburg Heimatwerk is also the organizer of the Salzburg Advent Singing at the Great Festival Hall – one of the most significant cultural events of its kind in the entire Alpine region.
