The Sound of Music

The Salzburg Marionette Theatre is a „big“ theatre with „small“ actors. For more than 100 years, the puppets have enchanted grown-ups and children alike. The visitors are taken to a magical world of opera, fairy tale, or musical.

The Sound of Music is the world-famous story of the novice Maria who becomes the governess in the Trapp household during the interwar period. There she meets the widower Georg von Trapp and marries him. Together with the children, they perform as a family choir and use their success to escape to America.

  • The Sound of Music has been performed at the Marionette Theater since 2007.
  • In English with explanations in German, Italian, French, Spanish, Japanese
  • Duration: 1 hour 45 minutes
  • Music: Richard Rodgers,  Libretto: Oscar Hammerstein II, Book: Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse based on “The Story of the Trapp family Singers” by Maria von Trapp
