Women's Voices: A Concert by the Minguet Quartet for International Women's Day
Discover works by female composers from different eras, performed by the Minguet Quartet. An evening of music featuring pieces by Mozart, Mahler, Clarke, and contemporary female artists in the historic Rittersaal.
On International Women's Day, the Minguet Quartet honors the often forgotten voices of women composers from various eras. The program spans from Mozart's String Quartet in d minor KV 421 to Alma Mahler's songs "Die stille Stadt" and "Ich wandle unter Blumen," all the way to works by contemporary female composers such as Rebecca Clarke, whose "Poem for String Quartet" was created in an era when women were hardly allowed to compose.
Modern compositions by Elnaz Seyedi ("fragmente über/unter druck"), Anda Kryeziu ("String Quartet No. 2 ‘Feeling New Strength’"), and Lisa Streich ("Sternenstill") showcase the diversity and innovative power of today's female composers. The Minguet Quartet – Ulrich Isfort and Annette Reisinger (violin), Aida-Carmen Soanea (viola), and Matthias Diener (cello) – interprets these multifaceted works with musical precision. A collaboration of the International Mozarteum Foundation, the Maria Anna Mozart Society Salzburg, and the DomQuartiers, which makes the contributions of women to music history visible.
