The valley access point for the Mönchsberg lift is located on Anton-Neumayr-Platz. Rising 60 m in total, this modern lift carries passengers in just 30 seconds up to the Mönchsberg and Salzburg’s museum of modern art (“Museum der Moderne”). From the scenic terrace there, visitors are treated to magical views of the Salzburg historic district.
Thanks to the Mönchsberg lift, locals and tourists alike are able to ride up to the Mönchsberg at an elevation of 485 m in just a matter of seconds. Stepping out of the elevator, visitors find themselves right at the entrance to the museum of modern art. Restaurant M32 – located in the same building – invites you to indulge yourself in a selection of fine foods. And once your taste buds are thoroughly satisfied, you might decide to explore the numerous pathways that lead through the nature sanctuary on top of the Mönchberg, from where you can enjoy one-of-a-kind views across the historic rooftops of downtown Salzburg.
Good to know: The Salzburg Card includes one free ride on the Mönchsberg lift.
The Mönchsberg Lift provides visitors with barrier-free access to the museum. At the museum itself, there is an additional lift which can be used to reach the outdoor terrace as well as Restaurant M32 (only during museum opening hours).
