Bus regulations – access/events

Special regulations apply to tour coaches wishing to access special events at the festival halls (Grosses Festspielhaus, Haus für Mozart, Felsenreitschule), at the University Great Hall as well as the Landestheater, Mozarteum and Marionette Theater.

For events at the GREAT FESTIVAL HALL, House for Mozart, and FELSENREITSCHULE, the following applies:

The access via Neutor into Hofstallgasse has been closed since September 14, 2026, due to construction work and is expected to remain inaccessible until the end of March 2027!

For tour buses with visitors to events in the festival area, the following applies during the total closure of Neutor:

  • Please primarily use the Bus Terminals Nonntal and Paris-Lodron
  • The access for boarding and alighting, one hour before to one hour after the event, is only possible with minibuses (max. vehicle height of 3.70 m) due to height restrictions at Klausentor and Münzgasse. Access in this case is via Staatsbrücke or Mülln. These trips are exempt from the city center bus driving ban. Moreover, the organizer must be contacted in advance.
  • No parking in Hofstallgasse: Due to the construction site, parking in Hofstallgasse is not possible. All buses with a maximum height of 3.70 m must immediately drive to a parking lot after disembarking the guests via the turning loop and can pick up their guests in Hofstallgasse right after the performance.
  • Due to construction work, disruptions should be expected!
  • Special regulation for visitors of the Salzburg Advent Singing at the Great Festival Hall

All year round (excluding Salzburg Festival in summer and Advent)

  • Please note the above information regarding access during the Neutor closure!
  • Access for alighting and boarding is permitted 1 hour before and up to 1 hour after the performances (only after consultation with the organizer)

Salzburg Festival

  • Please note the above information regarding access during the Neutor closure!
  • Access to the festival halls in Hofstallgasse is only possible with a vignette (request annually starting December 1st via: busvignette@salzburgfestival.at)

Advent

  • Please note the above information regarding access during the Neutor closure!
  • A bus vignette is required for the right of way into Hofstallgasse for boarding and alighting. This is only issued for guests of the Salzburg Advent Singing and the Salzburg Shepherds' Advent. Tour buses must register in advance. Please contact the respective organizer:
    - Salzburg Advent Singing at the Great Festival Hall (as well as a link to the access information)
    - Salzburg Shepherds' Advent in the Great University Aula
  • Access to these two Advent events is possible up to 1 hour before and after the booked performance.
  • TIP! To avoid possible difficulties when accessing Hofstallgasse, we recommend using the bus terminals in Nonntal or Paris-Lodron Street for boarding and alighting.
For events at the Salzburg STATE THEATER, MOZARTEUM, and MARIONETTE THEATER, the following applies:
  • Before 7:00 p.m., the Paris-Lodron terminal should be used, online booking required in advance!
  • After 7:00 p.m., parking is permitted on the Schwarzstraße (only on the side of the event venues) while complying with the STVO for boarding and alighting.
  • Note: Access from Schwarzstraße to Makartplatz is closed (construction site until at least July 2029)
