The Mozart opera will be accompanied by a diverse program, including the Mozart Week debut of Icelandic star pianist Víkingur Ólafsson.
The Mozart Festival as a Spectacular Birthday Celebration
The Mozart Week has existed since 1956, when Salzburg celebrated Mozart's 200th birthday. Since then, the Mozart Festival has developed into the world's most important stage for Mozart's music: Every year around January 27 - Mozart's birthday - concerts, operas and chamber music fill the historic halls of the Mozarteum. Great conductors, renowned orchestras and celebrated soloists have shaped the festival's profile for decades. The focus is always on Mozart's work - pure, unadulterated and with the ambition to rediscover it again and again.
Mozart Week 2027: 3 times Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra
A special highlight remains the annual appearance of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Under Christian Thielemann, they will perform Beethoven's Ninth Symphony to honor the 200th anniversary of the composer's death. They will also give another concert together with the successful duo Adam Fischer and Igor Levit, who will be appearing on stage at Mozart Week for the third time in a row. The audience can look forward to a varied program of musical performances that will allow them to experience the magic of Mozart's work in a whole new way.
