Arrival by Car
Salzburg is easy to reach by car thanks to its excellent connections to major highways. You can get here via the A1 or A10 from within Austria, or via the A8 from Germany. Please note: Car access to Salzburg's Old Town is limited. The most convenient way to reach the city center is by using the affordable Park & Ride system, which includes public transportation.
Getting to the city center
Car access to Salzburg's Old Town is limited due to the construction-related closure of the Siegmundstor, also known as Neutor. However, access by car is still possible, for example for hotel guests and local residents. Parking lots and parking garages in the city center also remain accessible by car, although some access routes and traffic arrangements have changed. Please check the current regulations on the official information page of the City of Salzburg before your arrival.
All parking in Salzburg’s city center is paid. We therefore recommend leaving your car at a Park & Ride lot and taking public transportation directly into the city center at a special rate. When using the combined parking and public transport offer, you must leave the parking lot by midnight on the day of use. If you leave after midnight, the regular parking rate applies.
