Your Austria Guide will meet you at the information stand (No. 95) directly in front of the Christmas tree at Residenzplatz. There, the walk through festive Salzburg begins. You'll pass by inviting market stalls while learning interesting stories & historical facts about the Salzburg Christkindlmarkt.

Additionally, you'll receive tips for your Christmas Shopping and discover hidden gems and traditional handicrafts. Culinary delights will also be included in the tour. You will learn where to enjoy the best treats.

The Salzburg Cathedral offers many fascinating stories about the origins of Christmas traditions in our region. Discover an alpine nativity scene, a historically interesting baptismal font, and a festively decorated high altar with a traditionally designed Advent wreath.

You will learn more about the origins of the Christmas festival, the significance of the Advent wreath, how the nativity scene came into our living rooms, about the song "Silent Night, Holy Night," and much more.
